Begin your journey to secure crypto ownership

Welcome aboard the Trezor® experience

Thank you for choosing a Trezor® hardware wallet. You are now stepping into a world where your digital assets are under your control. In this guide, we will walk you through each essential step, in clear language, to help you begin with confidence and security. Take your time, follow along, and you’ll have your device fully set up and ready to protect your crypto in no time.

Unpack with care and verify authenticity

When your device arrives, open the box gently and inspect the outer seal. That seal is your first layer of protection: if it shows signs of tampering, do not use the device and reach out to support immediately. Inside, you will find the Trezor hardware, a USB cable, recovery seed cards, and a card with setup instructions. Keep these items close as you continue.

Navigate to the official setup portal

Use your computer or tablet and open a secure, updated browser. Type trezor.io/start into the address bar. Make sure the URL is correct and that you see the secure connection icon in your browser. This is the trusted gateway for your device’s initial configuration and firmware verification.

Tip: Bookmark this URL once it’s confirmed genuine. Phishing attempts often mimic this address, so always double-check before proceeding.

Install the official application

You will be guided to download the official Trezor Suite application. Choose the version suited to your operating system. Install it following the prompts. Do not install from third‑party sources. Once installed, launch the app and allow it to communicate with your hardware device.

Connect your device and update firmware

Use the included USB cable to connect your Trezor to your computer. The Suite application will detect it and prompt firmware installation or update if required. Having the latest firmware ensures you benefit from the latest security improvements and stability enhancements.

Create your wallet and record your recovery information

Through the interface in the Suite app, select the option to create a new wallet. The device will generate a recovery phrase. Carefully transfer these words onto the paper seed cards provided – do not type them into any device or take photographs. This phrase is your ultimate backup.

Security reminder: Store your recovery phrase offline, in a location only you (or trusted parties) can reach. Anyone with access to the phrase can reconstruct your wallet.

Choose a strong passcode

Next, set up a secure passcode on your device. This adds an additional barrier should the device ever fall into the wrong hands. Avoid simple combinations or repeating numbers. Aim for something memorable but not obvious.

Launch the management interface

With everything set, open Trezor Suite’s dashboard. From here you can add accounts, send or receive crypto, check your portfolio, or explore advanced settings. This is your control center for your wallet operations.

Enable advanced protections and stay current

For those who wish to take security further, you can enable passphrase protection, multisignature setups, or hidden wallets. Always monitor firmware or software updates and apply them promptly. Visit official sources and subscribe to announcements to keep your device secure and capable.
